Hi everyone! I would like to introduce the first tote bag by Nerdartistry, The Laumeyer’s Teacher’s Tote. This tote bag is the perfect bag for any teacher or crafter. I originally designed this bag for my mom. She’s a special education teacher who wanted a bag that would fit her laptop with lots of pockets. But I don’t just have one teacher in the family, I have 4 teachers in my family. My mom, my aunts and my daughter are all teachers. If you noticed, in the beginning I said this was also a great crafters tote. When I told my pattern manager what I was making, she squealed and said “that is the perfect crochet tote.” So I added an optional liner panel that doesn’t have the laptop sleeve.

This bag measures 15 ½” wide by 13” high by 5” deep. The two exterior side panels have 2 domed pockets that are big enough to hold a tumbler.  The exterior main panels have 3 domed pockets for a total of 8 pockets. The inside of the bag has two liner panels. One liner panels have a laptop sleeve with 3 pen pockets and 2 slip pockets. The other liner panel has a deep  11” zipper pocket and 3 slip pockets.

This bag has a second option for one of the liner panels. The second option has a zipper pocket with 3 pen pockets and 2 slip pockets with an optional zipper pocket.

This is considered a confident beginner pattern. Bag techniques used in this pattern are: zipper pocket installation, angled zipper, rivet installation and pleats.

This bag can be completed on a domestic sewing machine. If you are making this on a domestic, it’s recommended you complete this bag using cotton woven, canvas or waterproof canvas. It’s only recommended to use vinyl or cork for those completing this bag with an industrial sewing machine.

This pattern comes with several color step photos. There is also a full instructional video on our Patreon channel.
